UVBI: Ultra Violet blood Irradiation:

Ultraviolet rays actually interact with oxygen and produce ozone in stratosphere. UV light of around 245 wavelength is in itself a powerful agent against microbes, viruses, parasites, fungi, etc. Drawing the patients blood, subjecting it to UV lights and transfusion back is widely practiced the world over, but very few centres perform MAHT and UVBI together.

Major autohaemotherapy is the procedure where 50 ml of patients blood is drawn, and perfused with 50 to 60 ml of 70 micrograms percent ozone. This bubbling diffused ozone makes the blood cherry red. The ozonated blood is now retransfused back to the patient. There are a wide set of indications for MAHT procedure which are described in detail in the book and course lessons.
